Artist Statement

Verónica Wagner is an Argentine visual artist based in Mullumbimby, Australia, whose work explores the intersection of emotional abstraction, Taoist philosophy, and somatic presence. Through painting, she channels lived experience into symbolic and intuitive forms, creating what she describes as vibrational maps of being.

Her creative process is rooted in sensitivity, gesture, and the space between action and stillness — deeply inspired by the Taoist concept of Wu Wei (non-doing). Rather than representing emotion, her paintings emerge as imprints of inner states, guided by body, breath, and intuitive flow.

Wagner works primarily on the floor, often alongside her daughter, allowing the painting to unfold from a state of embodied listening and shared discovery. Her practice is a space of contemplation, integration, and self-recognition — where what is invisible takes form.

Under the name KŌNG by Wagner, she weaves presence, silence, and color into a poetic visual language. Her work invites others into a quiet, resonant field where abstraction becomes a path of return.

She primarily works with acrylics on canvas, incorporating techniques such as dry brushing, layering, and textural sculpting with non-traditional tools. Her color palette is intuitive and vibrational—chosen in response to inner states and her somatic perception of energy. Colors become part of her emotional mapping, often manifesting as bright or expressive tones that reflect the resonance of the moment. Each painting unfolds through gesture, improvisation, and presence, rather than pre-planned composition.
